APPLY BY SEPTEMBER 22, 2017!
We will conduct interviews during the last week of September with the council starting the first Friday of October 2017
The Youth Leadership Council aims to further Intermedia Arts’ mission of being a catalyst that builds understanding among people through art. As a member of the YLC you will work together with other youth and the Youth Programming Team to build an interdisciplinary youth community that fosters relationships and deepens interactions among teens in our programs. You will work to plan special events and new arts experiences that will allow youth to get to know Intermedia Arts as a place where they are respected, have access to art, and can develop their skills as artists and leaders.
The goals of the Youth Leadership Council are to:
* Create more opportunities for youth
* Increase access to arts experiences
* Develop an Intermedia Arts youth community
* Increase crossover and collaboration among programs
* Assist in organizational decision making
Membership in the YLC consists of a one-year internship with Intermedia Arts. Members may reapply for a second year, but there is a two-year maximum to allow new youth a chance to participate.
As a member of the Youth Council you will meet at Intermedia Arts twice a month with other council members and will be expected to attend other youth events at Intermedia Arts. You will also be eligible to receive transportation options to and from meetings and will be given a budget with which to carry out your duties.
This fall, the YLC will attend Intermedia Arts' Creative Community Leadership Institute (CCLI). Intermedia Arts' Creative Community Leadership Institute matches people who have a passion for change with the tools and experiences to advance their effectiveness and take their work to the next level by leveraging the power of arts and culture.
